Built in 1887, this beautiful historic home survived the devastation of the 1900 hurricane, and still proudly boasts the original front entry door, hardwood floors, twelve foot ceilings, stained and leaded glass windows, unique light fixtures, transoms and pocket doors. Special care has been taken to retain much of the home's original woodwork and windows during a recent, careful restoring process. Adding to the historical integrity of the home are many modern conveniences, including central air and a swimming pool. The home is beautiful and quiet. The breakfast was amazing both days we were there. Lana was an excellent hostess! We both agreed that this was our favorite place yet that we have stayed on the island. You won't be disappointed. It was an absolutely wonderful weekend and Lana is an incredible host! We have never stayed at a bed & breakfast before and didnt quite know what to expect. Well let me tell you it was OFF THE CHART!!!!!!!!! We were welcomed at the door like we were standing on the red carpet. Our room (the pacific room)was so clean and nice we just were all smiles. And the bed was far better than a hotel bed i assure you. To sum it up Coastal Dreams was the perfect start to our vacation. Great private room, nice touches like a welcome card in the room. Will be staying there again when travel finds us in Galveston. Clean and beautiful! Lana was probably the hostess with the absolute mostest!! She was so accommodating and sweet! The breakfast was so far past perfect- she made me look bad! Angela & Jeremy 5/5/2008 4:44:00 PM It was Jeremy & I's first stay at a B&B & now we will always try to stay at a B&B instead of a hotel if they are anything like Coastal Dreams B&B and Lana, our hostess. I suprised Jeremy with a Wine & Cheese package. Lana was very discreet about the charges and tried to set the mood for us. She even accomodated our very late arrival & worked with me on making sure the Wine & Cheese suprise was fresh on our arrival. The wine was perfect - could not have chosen a better wine! The cheese...well, it was so good we had to ask what kind it was. The grapes were delicious! And the presentation was immaculate. If we are in Galveston, we know where we will be staying!!!!
