Convention Services

For meeting planners, the Galveston Island Convention & Visitors Bureau offers many useful services that can maximize your time. From the initial planning to the post event wrap up, you can count on our expertise and hospitality when working with the CVB... let us become an extension of your team. Call us first to plan your needs!



Site Selection Presentations
The Galveston Island Convention & Visitors Bureau will make necessary travel arrangements to make bid presentations when being considered for a meeting or convention destination. The bureau reserves the right to give consideration to all requests.

Request for Proposal (RFP)
Let us do the work for you. Call us when you begin the site selection process and our sales team will initiate a request for proposal, check hotel and venue availability, distribute your meeting specifics to vendors to begin the competitive bid process, and arrange site inspections.
Pre-Convention Collateral
For groups booked through The Galveston Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, we are pleased to provide advanced collateral and promotional materials to promote the island as your meeting destination. The bureau reserves the right to limit quantities based on group size and inventory.

Attendance Building
With our resort atmosphere, rest assured that your attendance will be record breaking! There are many ways that we can help pre-promote your meeting on Galveston Island. Based on your attendance, the options are limitless.

Publicity
We're proud you chose Galveston Island. We will submit a news release on your behalf to area media to help bring awareness about your meeting.

Housing
The Galveston Island Convention and Visitors Bureau can provide a housing bureau to service groups that qualify as city wide conventions.

Welcome
Arrangements can be made for a local representative to welcome your delegates as an opening to your meeting. In addition, we will coordinate a personalized letter from the Mayor's office upon arrival. With prior notification, your group can be presented with a proclamation from the Mayor during the opening session.

Registration Assistance
The Galveston Island Convention and Visitors Bureau will provide registration assistance personnel for conventions and meetings that are booked through the bureau. The bureau reserves the right to give consideration to all other requests. Please consult your sales manager.

Name Tags
We can provide name badges and inserts for groups that exceed 90 rooms, per night.

On-Site Information Center
The Galveston Island Convention and Visitors Bureau can provide an on-site information desk and/or personnel for conventions and meetings based on the size of your group. Bureau personnel will maintain the responsibility for required collateral material, local maps, directions to local restaurants, attractions, museums and other acceptable delegate services.

Welcome Bags
Offered complimentary to any groups booked through the CVB.

Galveston is located just 50 miles south of Houston. Nearby airports include Houston Hobby Airport, a thirty-minute drive from Galveston, and George Bush International Airport, a 90-minute drive from Galveston. Scholes International Airport at Galveston is accessible for chartered planes, helicopters and can also accommodate up to a Boeing 767.


The temperate weather makes Galveston ideal for meetings at any time of the year, allowing visitors to escape the freezing weather of winter and extreme heat of summer. Annual season temperatures are: Summer: low 70’s to high 80’s; Fall: high 50’s to the 80’s; Winter: 50’s to the 60’s; and Spring: mid 50’s to the high 70’s.


After a long day of meetings, convention and meeting attendees can enjoy Galveston’s wide variety of outdoor activities. Outdoor recreation includes 32 miles of beaches, golf courses, salt water fishing and much more. There are two 18-hole golf courses located on the Island, the Galveston Island Municipal Golf Course and the Galveston Country Club.
